A two-hour Zumbathon themed “Love Life, Be Responsible” has helped raise funds for charity.
The programme was organised by Miss Malaysia Indian Care Association (MMICare) in aid of Rumah Ozanam in Batu Arang and Gift Her With Life Fund.
Rumah Ozanam provides housing and care for women and children living with HIV while Gift Her With Life is MMICares’ charity chest, which strives to serve the community through sustainable education, empowerment and environmental programmes.
About 200 participants took part in the Zumbathon, which was led by qualified zumba instructor Puteri Aizza Azlan.
Programme director Sajjini Michelle, first runner-up in the 2015 Miss Malaysia Indian Global pageant, said the top five winners of the pageant were required to organise a programme to benefit the community.

With support from the Asian Football Confederation CSR Department, MCrumcher, Vico and Happy Water, a total of RM12,000 was raised from the programme.
Sajjini said she picked Rumah Ozanam as one of the beneficiaries after organising a Christmas party at the home last year.
“They were in need of financial assistance. Our contribution will go towards paying their monthly medical expenses,” she added.
Besides Sajjini, the other winners of the Miss Malaysia Indian Global pageant had also organised charity programmes.
